Redundancy fear as NatWest Sark branch to shut
A NATWEST employee in Sark could be made redundant after the bank announced yesterday that the island's branch would close next year.
The 'difficult' decision followed a significant change in banking habits, according to Rob Girard, island director of NatWest Guernsey.
It is working with Guernsey Post to introduce counter services for its customers in the Sark Post Office that will allow them to withdraw cash and deposit cash and cheques.
'Banking has changed significantly over the last few years as more and more of our customers are banking with us where and when it is convenient for them, such as 24-hour online or mobile services,' Mr Girard said.
'As a result of these changes we have taken the difficult decision to close our NatWest Sark branch on Friday 27 February 2015. '
