After serving 16 years at St Saviour’s Church – including 13 at Torteval Church, and three and six years at St Peter’s and Forest churches respectively – rector extraordinaire Mark Charmley is bidding farewell to the island. Christina Kennedy spoke to him about his experience of working in Guernsey.

So many people and organisations were shocked to hear of the death in April of Paul Wheatley – a man who committed himself to supporting so many charities, particularly those linked around inclusion in sport, that the list took up half a page of the order of service at his funeral, which took place at Victoria Park. James Falla remembers a popular volunteer whose enthusiasm enriched the lives of hundreds of islanders.
