Rihoy & Son started work to replace the dilapidated St Matthew's Church Hall in September.

Project manager Dan Taylor explained that after the demolition, new foundations were put in place as well as the ground drainage.

'The next noticeable step will be constructing the steel frame of the main hall and we will also be doing some blockwork on another section.

'Around Christmas, we will be starting on the first floor.'

Mr Taylor said everything was on schedule and it was an exciting project to be part of.

However, he said, due to the compact size of the plot and it being a busy public area, it had been difficult keeping everything clear.
