Albert Pier pick-up is 'so much better'
APPRECIATIVE cruise passengers thanked islanders yesterday for sacrificing parking spaces as part of the 'smart move' to relocate the coach pick-up.
Having the coaches collect and drop them from the Albert Pier rather than the bus terminus was much more convenient, they said, and compared favourably to other ports.
However, those visitors spoken to by the Guernsey Press acknowledged that the recently changed arrangements had come at the public's expense – a loss of 44 spaces when there are big ships and eight on days when smaller liners are visiting.
'There are a lot of elderly people on cruise ships and people like me who struggle to walk long distances, so having the tour bus so close is brilliant,' Jill Garzone from Virgina said.
'I am thrilled that Guernsey cares enough to do something about it.'
