Inquiry to look at HSSD

AN INDEPENDENT inquiry into how Health and Social Services handled an investigation into deaths in Alderney will be launched on Monday.

The review will look at the decision-making processes and actions that preceded the referral by the Health and Social Services Department of Dr Rory Lyons, pictured, to the General Medical Council and to Guernsey Police, including the role of senior management and the political board.

The budget is understood to be up to £25,000 and a report on its findings is due to be produced by Christmas.

Members of the States of Alderney and Guernsey produced a framework to direct the inquiry and two independent experts from the Good Governance Institute have been appointed to lead it.
