Christmas in The Jungle one with a difference for Bridge2

A DIFFERENT sort of Christmas was had by the Bridge2 charity team, who spent the festive period at a refugee camp in Calais.

Charity founder Sarah Griffith and her two sons headed to The Jungle last Wednesday with a large van full of supplies. They spent a week there.

Ms Griffith had visited the camp in the middle of November, when the charity built two kitchens to help feed some of the estimated 6,000 people who are living there.

Before leaving on her most recent trip, she said she could not enjoy Christmas in Guernsey when she knew there was a humanitarian crisis happening next door.

She has been posting regular updates on her Facebook page, along with photos of the work the volunteers have been doing.

One of her posts said: 'The kitchen spent all day preparing for the evening meal and around 1,200 meals left the hatch.

'We cleaned plates and rotated the bowls outside for the customers to put them into once they had eaten.'
