A report on the island's Reform Law is to be put to Chief Pleas on 20 January and, while it is for information purposes, members of the Sark government will be able to give feedback on their preferences.

The document, which is to be presented by the Policy and Performance Committee on behalf of the Reform Law (Good Governance) Policy Development Team, recommends that the budget should be sent to the Lt-Governor for information purposes only.

'Under the current arrangements in the Reform Law (2008), the Finance and Resources Committee shall, once the budget is approved by the Chief Pleas, submit the budget to the Lt-Governor for approval,' the report said.

'The PDT feels that, in our self-governing jurisdiction, it is no longer appropriate for the Lt-Governor to exercise these functions and that they should be removed from the Reform Law and that the budget should be sent to the Lt-Governor for information.'
