Sark First's mail drop seeks to 'unify' island
SARK FIRST has been keeping the subject of electoral reform high on the island's agenda with its latest postcard mail drop.
The group was formed in 2014 by people who said they recognised the need to find a solution to the political disenfranchisement of a sizeable minority on Sark.
It is their belief that until a solution is found, the island's population will continue to diminish and the economy will deteriorate to a point of no return.
Sark First has petitioned the European Court to get the Ministry of Justice to repeal reform laws of 2008 and 2010 and replace them with a mechanism for electing a Sark government which it believes would represent the needs, views and concerns of islanders.
The latest postcard seeks to unify the island to help it out of its difficulties.
It calls for a government of unity that represents a broad cross-section of islanders. There were many varying forms of electing government and presently it was impossible to get representation for all islanders.
