The Guernsey project – called Think Kind – aims to encourage people to do something for someone, such as paying for someone's coffee, while also passing a card on to the person that they have been kind to.

Over the week it is hoped 400,000 cards will have helped transform kindness in the island, and to inspire Year 10 and 11 students, founder and chief kindness officer at suspendedcoffees.com, John Sweeney, spoke to them.

The kindness coach and speaker told the students that kindness mattered.

'Never underestimate a kind act. In life, you have to be you and you just have to be kind – and that's the most important thing.'
