A number of visitors have this week labelled Guernsey superior to its neighbour, despite recent TripAdvisor rankings putting the bigger island firmly on top.

Many people visiting the islands from around the UK, France and Germany said it was Guernsey's idyllic landscape, quaint charm and friendly residents that made it so special.

John and Christine Hutchins, who live near Southampton, much preferred Guernsey to Jersey and did not want a lot to change.

'The thing about this place is that it has a lot of old-world charm,' she said.
