Pride of Guernsey: 'Jenni and Sara have been a rock for us all'
TWO Giffard Ward nurses helped a patient and his family during their hour of need and have been a 'rock' for them.
Kevin Davidson, who has had to spend a considerable amount of time this year in hospital, has nominated Jenni Laine and Sara de la Rue for the Angel of the Year Award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.
'My family and I found ourselves in our hour of need and Jenni and Sara have been a rock for us all,' he said.
'They have been there for all of us from the beginning and given us strength and support to carry on through these hard times.'
He said both had been supportive, caring, kind, considerate and professional.
'The reason I think Jenni and Sara stand out from the rest is that they really, truly and genuinely care about all patients.
'They go above and beyond their duties.'
He said they lightened the mood when it was most needed and brightened the room with their personalities.
'They bring smiles when you least expect them,' added Mr Davidson.
'They are the perfect people to be nurses – in one word, Jenny and Sarah are "Angels".'
Miss Laine has worked on Giffard Ward since qualifying as a nurse 12 years ago, while Mrs De La Rue qualified in 2009 and was Miss Laine's student. The pair have worked together for seven years.
The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
