The play, written by islander Giuliano Crispini and featuring a professional cast, opened at the performing arts centre last night.

The story takes place in Guernsey during the Occupation and is based on diaries discovered in the Priaulx Library, and features some dialogue in Guernsey French.

This is a re-launch of its second national tour.

In the title role is Victoria Emslie, who played Audrey in ITV's Downton Abbey. The other stars are War Horse's Mat Ruttle and Ian Reddington of EastEnders fame.

Ms Emslie said it was a privilege to perform it here.
