Mrs Warren stayed over at neighbour Joyce Francis' house to assist her and make sure she wasn't alone when her husband was receiving medical treatment in the UK.

In addition, she regularly helps out with Mrs Francis' chores, making sure that the 86-year-old has the most comfortable life possible.

Mrs Francis said she was very grateful for Mrs Warren's help and friendship and wanted what she does to be recognised.

'Jennie is a wonderful neighbour, she is always there when you need her,' she said.

'She does all my ironing every week and when my husband had to go into Southampton Hospital, she came and stayed with me so I wouldn't be alone.

'I am nearly 87 and so pleased to have her as a neighbour and friend.'

Mrs Warren was surprised that her helpful actions had led to the nomination and said that the help she and her husband had given should be expected from anyone.

'I do it because we love them and they have helped people on the clos themselves over the years,' she said.

'It's nice to keep an eye on them and, if I was on my own, I'd like someone to do the same for me.'
