Pride of Guernsey: contribution to local charities and individuals 'shouldn't go unrecognised.'
'MR CHRIS CHADWICK, aka Ozy Chris, is probably better known for being the loud, brash Australian with the face for radio, but the dedication and time he contributes to the Guernsey music and arts scene, and his contribution to local charities and individuals, shouldn't go unrecognised.'
So said Lorna Prince, who nominated him for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year Award.
'I came over here to see my cousin Sally in 1996 and I forgot to leave,' said Ozy.
As part of the Green Man Motorcycle Club, Ozy began organising gigs together with Discharge at The Bowl, the Hockey Club and the Coq du Nord.
'We set up Chaos Events LBG and began the festival up at Pleinmont 12 years ago.
It was originally a one-day, one-night, back-of-a-trailer event, then it grew to a bigger stage, then two stages.
'Now it's evolved.
'We put on the kind of party that we would like to go to.'
Lorna said that Chaos LBG has provided a proven framework to run gigs and festivals 'that have enhanced local live music and raised thousands of pounds for charity, such as the recently-successful Jonah Beats'.
Ozy isn't one for sitting still.
'I'm of the opinion that if you think there is nothing to do, then get up out of your armchair and do something yourself.
'And if it can benefit the community, then that's even better.'
