Mr Jones has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award, sponsored by the Garenne Group, by Callum Le Lacheur and others.

Callum, who is 14, said Mr Jones helped his students with anything and was always there to answer any questions.

'He is the best teacher ever,' said Callum.

'It is just the way he is – he is not too strict, but if you take things too far he draws it back again.

'You can talk to him about other things as well. He is a very friendly teacher.'

Callum said Mr Jones was smart and popular among all students.

'Yesterday, he had to cover a lesson and my mates were saying he is really funny.

'Every student likes him and he makes maths lessons fun.

'Last year, I didn't enjoy maths but now I really like it. My grades have gone up too.'
