A popular nominee for the Christies Group-sponsored accolade, Kate Groves lost her daughter in April 2013 when she was allegedly murdered on a houseboat in Kashmir.

Mark Henry felt Kate deserved the award because of all the family had been through since losing Sarah.

'I really do take my hat off to Kate for being such a brave lady, battling through the pain she and her family face daily. Kate is such an inspiration to us all and how we should never give up in the fight for justice.'

Ken Acott said: 'After four years of indescribable pain following the murder of her daughter combined with the stress and disappointment of dealing with an on/off legal process thousands of miles away, Kate has fought for justice without wavering and has worked incredibly hard to establish, develop and grow the Sarah Groves Foundation to honour Sarah's life and memory and in the process does amazing work for children in Guernsey and further afield.'

Alice Davis said Kate was a simply fantastic lady who did so much for the local community through her work for the Sarah Groves Foundation.

'She is an inspiration to all around her and to turn a personal tragedy into a source of good is simply amazing.'

Tracy de Carteret said despite the parental pain of losing a child, Kate had turned her grief into a positive by working tirelessly to raise funds for the benefit of other children in Sarah's memory.

'An outstanding, unselfish and brave act.'
