Trident will go around Jethou to get to Herm
AUTHORITIES have banned Travel Trident from sailing a direct route to Herm at extreme low tides, following its second accident this year.
The route changes could see journey times extended by up to 15 minutes in extreme cases, as the ferries will have to route around the Tobars or Musé passages, well out past Jethou, after the operator was banned from taking the route on which it has struck bottom twice in recent months.
Passengers were evacuated onto the lifeboat last week after the Trident V struck something below the water line on its way to Herm.
Trident Charter Company managing director Peter Wilcox confirmed the vessel would be out of action until at least early July, as the only spare part available had been used when the Trident V had its first collision back in April.
