Buffalo Huddleston to the rescue at Folklore
THICK FOG last Sunday caused a real headache for organisers of Jersey's annual Folklore Festival with two visiting main stage acts unable to get to the island due to cancelled flights.
But the heavy clouds had a silver lining for Guernsey band Buffalo Huddleston, who found themselves in the right place at the right time to help out. Having opened the main stage shortly after noon to an audience of little over a hundred, the five-piece folk-hop band were asked to go back out on the same stage at 5pm when the crowd had grown to some 4,000 revellers.
Guernsey photographer Andrew Le Poidevin said: 'Their first set in the heavy drizzle was only witnessed by a small number of die-hard fans, but Buffalo Huddleston went down a storm when they played again to the masses in glorious sunshine.'
The prime slot had been destined for Slamboree – a 10-piece dance band and festival circuit favourite – who had spent an hour in a plane circling overhead before diverting to Gatwick. With the expectant crowd just coming to terms with the announcement that Slamboree hadn't made it, Buffalo Huddleston took to the stage and quickly won them over.
Guernsey policeman Mikey Callister also caught both Buffalo Huddleston's sets.
'I arrived early to see them kick off the festival and they played a fantastic set as always. Later on rumours started circulating that one of the bands had failed to arrive and that Buffalo Huddleston were going to get another set. Well they didn't disappoint.
'It was good to see the Jersey crowd warming to every song, with Buffalo Huddleston proving why they deserved a later set. They helped save the day.'
