Mr Le Page said Mrs Inder was his wife's nurse for two years.

'Andrea was amazing,' he said. 'She was so caring and thoughtful and her visits always brightened Shirley's day – she called Andrea her little ray of sunshine.'

Mr Le Page has nominated Mrs Inder for the Angel of the Year Award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.

'When Shirley was in remission she continued to visit to ensure all was well but when Shirley was ill, Andrea was so professional and we always felt that she was doing everything in her power to get Shirley the best treatment possible.

'She made sure all the equipment and medication Shirley needed was made available as soon as possible.

'Andrea was there whenever we needed her support and care.'

He said during Mrs Le Page's final days, Mrs Inder visited every day and made sure that she was pain-free and that she could die at home with her family.

'And we know that we were only one of many families receiving Andrea's fantastic care,' added Mr Le Page.

'She is truly an angel to all those she looks after.'
