The couple, 28 and 31 respectively, were nominated for the Christies Group-sponsored Parent/s of the Year Award by their good friend Lynsey Chick.

Their now five-year-old son Harvey was only a few weeks old when he suffered a significant head injury due to the accident, which required him to be rushed to hospital in Southampton for surgery.

Harvey has also undergone several invasive operations to treat a condition he was born with and the family have spent a considerable amount of time in hospital and visiting specialists both on- and off-island.

'Despite these distressing events, Claire and James always remain positive for Harvey and help him to live a normal life,' Lynsey said.

'Although he has needed to miss a little school time to attend appointments and have surgery, Claire and James have ensured that Harvey has not fallen behind with his educational development and always engage him in activities that are both fun and help him to learn.

'Their support and stable home environment has ensured that Harvey has thrived and their positivity, energy and love for fun and quality time really shines through in Harvey's character.

'He is the most joyful little boy.

'Claire and James are the parents that many people aspire to be and I am proud to call them my friends.'
