Mr Bentley is head of history at the Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre and he has received particular praise for how he supports his students in the run-up to important exams.

'Mr Bentley would happily do whatever it takes to make sure that his students are confident and equipped with more than enough factual detail for upcoming exams,' his nominator for the Garenne-sponsored Teacher of the Year Award said.

'Not only running history revision sessions, but also guidance in wellbeing and life in general, how to keep a positive mindset and how to reach your fullest potential.'

The history teacher is a popular figure at the Grammar and his nominator says it is his extra effort with students that is really appreciated.

'Mr Bentley is a caring, hard-working, selfless history teacher who goes above and beyond, not only for the confidence and the knowledge, but also the wellbeing and healthy mindset of his students.'
