He has been nominated by his stepdaughter and former student Lynsey Chick, who praised his long-term dedication to the sport and to his skaters.

As founder and head coach at Phoenix Artistic Roller Skating Club, Mr Dyke has coached hundreds of skaters and seen pupils represent the island and Great Britain in countless national and international competitions over the years.

He has produced British champions at all levels, from minis to seniors, solos and couples, and his skaters have regularly been selected to compete in European and world championships.

Mr Dyke, with his skating partner Kirsty Bell, has also competed at world level, notably placing fourth in the World Games in Taipei.

More recently he has taken up ballroom and Latin dancing with his wife, Sandy, as a hobby of their own.

Not content with just competing themselves, they also volunteer to help teach local celebrities to take on the Dancefloor Challenge and share their knowledge and love of dancing with their celebrity dance partners.

Miss Chick said her stepdad teaches in his own time alongside holding a full-time senior management position in the finance industry and his energy and enthusiasm is inspirational.

'His achievements are routinely overlooked at local industry and sports awards due to the minority nature of the sport, but I feel he thoroughly deserves this award in recognition of his impressive accomplishments and his long-term dedication to the sport and to his skaters.'
