Pride of Guernsey - 'Works hard to ensure all pupils get the best out of their learning'

It is her support, guidance and continued hard work that makes her a worthy nominee for the Teacher of the Year Award, sponsored by Garenne, and one of the parents, Lisa Dodd, has outlined the difference she has made for her son at school.

In putting forward the nomination, Mrs Dodd said she had seen her son grow in confidence within his work at St Martin's Primary.

She said Mrs Ashworth had given her time for extra parent meetings – her idea – to listen to their concerns and had always been honest with her answers, giving them ideas about how to support their son at home with his learning.

She said that in the care of Mrs Ashworth, their son had blossomed so much in the last year.

Mrs Ashworth is described as an exceptional teacher who should be recognised for her hard work.

'I think Jen Ashworth deserves the award because she works so hard ensuring all her pupils get the best out of their learning,' said Mrs Dodd.
