In a statement released this morning, Policy & Resources confirmed the president of States Trading Supervisory Board had passed away this morning.

'It was with great sadness that I have to inform you that my dear friend and colleague Dave Jones has passed away this morning,' said P&R member Deputy Lyndon Trott.

'He was at home with his family.

'Dave fought his ill health with bravery and dignity throughout the past months and years.

'Dave was a warm, generous and loyal friend to me, and to countless others in our community. He was fearless in his views, had the courage of his convictions, and was determined in working to help Guernsey's most vulnerable families.

'He was a wonderful and inspiring man.'

He said the States and the island's community would be all the poorer without Deputy Jones.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Bonnie, his children Nathan and Emma and his grandchildren, his family and his many, many friends in Guernsey and beyond. Dave's family have asked for privacy at this very difficult time.'

The Bailiff, Sir Richard Collas, has requested that all States Departments fly the Guernsey Flag at half-mast for the remainder of today as a mark of respect for Deputy Jones.

Departments which normally also fly the Union Flag in addition to the Guernsey Flag should lower both flags to half-mast.
