The 15-year-old is one of the Guernsey Rugby Academy players who gives up his Saturdays to work unrewarded as a ball boy for Guernsey Raiders, which nominated him for the Butterfield-sponsored Young Achiever of the Year award.

'This may seem like an easy task, but it takes a great deal of confidence to stand in front of a crowd and make sure that the ball gets to the players on the pitch with minimal delay.'

It said that in sometimes highly-charged games Liam has kept his composure to make sure he has the ball ready for play to continue.

'There are few boys of his age who would consider doing this vital role during a season that has seen games played in rain and hail storms.'

Liam has also helped with this year's Siam Cup.
