Over a dozen stallholders were at North Beach over the bank holiday, offering wine, biscuits, clothing and other produce from their home region.

Cider maker Jacques Daunay sells a range of cider, Calvados and apple juice. He also brings over a range of honey-based products on behalf of another Normandie company.

‘We started coming over maybe seven or eight years ago, two times a year,’ he said. ‘The people enjoy seeing us and we enjoy seeing the people. It is not complicated in Guernsey – people are happy and they know what they want. We have products that you don’t normally see in Guernsey.’

Lulu Hautbois, from Le Specialiste du Fromage, which is run by the Hautbois family, said she enjoyed coming over and getting to know the locals.

‘I like the people very much, they have nice personalities. It is very enjoyable and very simple here,’ she said.

Daniel Hoffecard, from Biscuits Normands, said they started coming over to the market almost 10 years ago.

They have continued to do so ever since.

The next Normandie Market is in May next year.
