The hit series Liar has had nearly five million people glued to their sofas over the last month.

It’s a did he/didn’t he five-episode suspense drama about a charming but sinister surgeon called Andrew Earlham – played by Ioan Gruffudd. It also stars Downton Abbey star Joanne Frogatt.

In the last episode the pregnant investigating police officer, DI Vanessa Hormon, was shown relaxing with a healthy drink, watching a nature documentary on TV, unaware that her smoothie had been spiked and that she was about to be attacked.

Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted that the documentary she was watching was the inside track on Alderney’s gannet colonies on Les Etacs – and it was no coincidence.

The producer of the show is high-flying Eliza Mellor, the daughter of residents Stephen and Diana Mellor, who own Fort Corblets.
