The third phase of the children’s playground at the park Saumarez Park opened to the public at the weekend and is aimed at younger children.

The apparatus includes a helicopter swing – which has been nicknamed the ‘twirly-whirly’, basket spring, raised trampoline and a battering ram rope swing.

Lily Ward, 5, was putting her gymnastics training to good use on the rope swing.

‘I like how it flies through the air,’ she said. ‘You can do tricks on it too.’
