La Barbarie Hotel is investing in the future. This has included spending £150,000 on staff accommodation.

Comprising two blocks, the new staff accommodation is made up of a total of seven en-suite single rooms – with one block already open and the other due to open within weeks.

The hotel is also looking at further investment, with its bar and restaurant set to be refurbished during winter 2018-19 in a vote of confidence in the island’s tourism sector.

‘Guernsey has a fantastic offer a loyal bunch of visitors. Travel is important to us and transport issues need to be addressed.

‘We keep investing in the hope that things will get better,’ said Andrew Coleman, managing director of La Barbarie.

‘One of the reasons we have such high ratings is our staff. That is another reason for investing. It’s important that we look after both the customers and the staff.’

The investment at the hotel comes as the biggest German-language hotel and travel review site, Holiday Check, has awarded it a six out of six rating, as well as high scores on Booking.com and Tripadvisor.
