There are 135 days until this year’s 39-mile walk around Guernsey’s coastline for charity takes place on Saturday 6 June and the walk’s committee are urging people to take advantage of the early-bird registration discounted offer, which ends 31 January.

Saffery Rotary Walk chairman Simon Milsted said he was eager to see as many people as possible sign up.

‘Last year we raised an exceptional amount of money but as always it is our ambition to raise more, especially as our walkers support so many great causes,’ he said.

‘January is a great time to sign up, many of us still have that start-of-the-year motivation and are looking to set ourselves a challenging goal to work towards.’

The early-bird offer is available to both individual walkers and teams.

The price for individual walkers who register before the month’s end is £20, after which the cost will return to the regular registration fee of £25.

Likewise, teams can pay an early-bird fee of £100 compared to £140, which will be the price come February.

The director of the walk’s sponsors, Saffery Champness, Lisa Vizia said: ‘It is a privilege for Saffery Champness to continue to sponsor the walk. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to support our local community with a great event.’

Earlier this month, the organising committee announced the 22 local charities, including Home-Start Guernsey, St Martin’s Primary School and Edible Guernsey, that would be sharing the funds raised by the 2020 walk.

Last year, the event raised £86,500 for 25 local charities and organisations, which the event organisers hope to exceed this year.
