Digital Greenhouse to nurture new business with Startup Hub

A blend of online services, face-to-face support and accelerator programmes will be offered by the hub.

It will also connect start-up and scale-up businesses with expertise within the island’s innovation ecosystem, according to the Digital Greenhouse, which has launched the service.

The Startup Hub has been launched after Startup Guernsey – formerly the Guernsey Enterprise Agency – closed its doors after 20 years of providing support to entrepreneurs.

The agency closed after Economic Development ended its grant support in favour of a new approach.

Lucy Kirby, director of the Digital Greenhouse, said: ‘This is such an exciting time to be involved with new business development and our vision is to continue to build on the great work done to support entrepreneurs to date.

‘We are seeing a real growth in uptake of services, attendance at events and interest in growing new ventures on island.

‘Our mission here at the Digital Greenhouse has been to enable innovation and expand horizons. The Startup Hub is a further connector for business growth and support.’

Currently available on the Digital Greenhouse website, the team has built a virtual space dedicated to curating expert advice for start-ups and scale-ups for their entrepreneurial journey.

The online service is complemented by an annual programme of events, workshops and networking from the Digital Greenhouse – which this year includes the first Starting-Up Saturday bootcamp this March.

It is also playing host to a new podcast series for entrepreneurs on the go, the first of which brings advice from local industry experts on intellectual property and company registration.
