It aims to give islanders ideas about how to holiday in Guernsey, including links to local accommodation, restaurants and activities.

So far people have clicked through to the individual websites of hospitality businesses more than 9,000 times. The response shows there are many Bailiwick residents looking for staycation ideas and ways to support the sector. There are already 108 businesses included, with 56 special offers available and more being added.

Economic Development tourism lead Deputy Joe Mooney said it was wonderful that islanders were getting involved.

‘I had no doubt islanders would be quick to explore the options available for staycations within the Bailiwick this summer,’ he said.

‘To see the campaign generating so much interest for hospitality firms is really encouraging. If you haven’t started thinking about your plans for a summer break, it’s the perfect place to start.

‘I think a lot of us will be really impressed by the choices on offer.’

Outdoor Guernsey’s Ant Ford Parker is one activity provider who is delighted to be involved in the Bailiwick Staycation Club initiative, and hopes it will encourage Bailiwick residents to make the most of the islands this summer.

‘It is going to be a really difficult year for a lot of people and businesses, but we are at least fortunate that we live in such a beautiful place with so much to explore and enjoy,’ he said.

‘We hope that everyone takes this opportunity to rediscover all their islands and take the time to learn a little more about what makes them so special.

‘There will be many offers and new things to try from all the hospitality and tourism or leisure businesses and it will be vital to the recovery of all of us, in many ways, to support them.’
