No one epitomises Guernsey Together spirit more than Willow
WILLOW DAVISON and her family have been championing the Guernsey Together spirit.
Since she was a newborn, the 15-month-old has had to be fed through a tube stuck on with medical tape.
The stickers were found not to be very effective at sticking, leading the feeding tube to fall out.
As a result, Willow’s mum, Dominique, found a company called Tubie Cheeks which specialises in bright and cheerful medical stickers.
‘All the designs are incredible and they stuck on much better,’ Mrs Davison said.
‘There was someone in the group who was offering personalised stickers so I sent off the #GuernseyTogether Lockdown 2021 design.’
Both of Willow’s parents work in health and social care, with Mrs Davison a former nurse and dad Nick in the ambulance service.
Born on 5 December 2019, in Portsmouth, at 31 weeks, Willow and Mrs Davison returned to Guernsey’s neonatal intensive care unit on Christmas Eve where the youngest Davison got to meet sister, Amelia, for the first time.
After being home for a month, the Bailiwick entered its first lockdown, and with Mr Davison a frontline worker, the family spent 16 weeks apart.
This lockdown the family has already spent over a month separated and Mrs Davison and Willow are staying on Frossard Ward for a few weeks.
Mrs Davison thanked the ward’s nurses for being amazing while taking care of Willow and the whole family, going above and beyond to provide incredible care.
‘Nick drives past and we can wave from the balcony outside, which is lovely but it’s not the same,’ Mrs Davison said.
‘Willow can’t wait to have a cuddle with her daddy and big sister Amelia.’
