Tide warnings were issued for this morning’s high tide, as well as tomorrow’s high water at 7.18am. The 9.4 metre high tide will coincide with winds of up to force eight coming in from the west.

It is expected this will result in waves coming over the seawall and debris affecting the coastal areas.

Slightly less serious tide alerts have been issued for this evening’s high tide at 7pm, as well as tomorrow evening and Monday morning. This means there is likely to be some spillage of waves over the coast roads.

A Guernsey Met Office spokesperson said the wind would be westerly before swinging round to the north-west over the weekend.

‘There will be sharp blustery showers and the temperature will be down to six or seven degrees,’ they said.

‘There is likely to be a rumble of thunder and hail. Overall it will be pretty unsettled.’

However there is a ridge of low pressure pushing in from the south-west and that should settle down the weather on Monday and Tuesday.

It is likely to stay cloudy, but be slightly warmer.
