Local bands only music festival planned for May
FESTIVAL lovers who are concerned they might not get to a UK gig this summer can get their music fix at a local event which will bring together a whole range of bands and DJs.
A team of organisers have got together to bring islanders a massive Guernsey Together Music Festival at the Rabbit Warren, the field behind the former Bowl building, in Victoria Avenue.
A date of 29 May has been set.
The idea stemmed from a conversation about festivals between Alex Lock and his business partner and people locally potentially missing out.
‘I sort of joked that we should hold our own one and we just ran with it,’ he said.
‘We’re holding it in the same place that the Guernsey Festival was held in 2011 and 2012 and, looking at the response so far, we’re expecting between 3,500 and 4,000 people.’
The main stage will be hosted by Island FM’s Carl Ward and will see headline sets by Fade2 Grey, The Devotees, The Rubiks, Reloaded, Buffalo Huddleston, Element 6, The Nightmares and High Voltage.
An exclusive VIP area will hear the old-school beats of Manzue, DJ Oneofakind, Tom Brock, Javan and Leon Robertson.
Once the island moves into stage three of the exit from lockdown, anyone organising a gathering of more than 100 people will be required to make note of all of the attendees.
However, this requirement is due to stop at the end of April, assuming that the island continues to have been able to have few Covid cases.
Organisers of the Guernsey Together Music Festival plan to keep a record of everyone who attends the event, just to be on the safe side.
It will be a full day of music, starting at 11.30am and going on until 11pm with two stages full of music and entertainment.
A tropical dance tent will feature music by Tammo, James Turner, Daisy Livesey, Garfield Brown, Jacob Peace, Jimbo Jones, Jim Robins, J Skillz, Matt Greening, Nostalgia, Seany B, Seb Skillen and Toby Le Ray.
Under 12s can go for free and there will be a family-friendly zone for them to enjoy featuring bouncy castles and children’s entertainment.
As well as music, there will be a traders village with local stall holders selling their products and a food village with boutique-style traders.
Stall holders and food traders who want to get involved should email info@guernseytogether.co.uk.
Insurance for the event has been sponsored by Network Insurance & Financial Planning.
Tickets are available from tomorrow from 8pm. General admission is £25 and VIP is £60. For information go to guernseytogether.co.uk.
In August last year, a free Guernsey Together celebration was put on by the Lions and Leo Clubs and the North Show and Battle of Flowers organisers to mark the island reaching phase of the exit from lockdown.
