CEO Bob Beebe said the news was fantastic for the island.

‘We know just how passionately islanders feel about the local environment and the sustainability of Guernsey.

‘Islanders are very interested in environmentally friendly options when it comes to their consumption of energy.’

If final approval is given, residents will be able to generate electricity from solar panels and then buy the renewable generated electricity from the company.

Mr Beebe said this provisional decision was an important one that would help secure a sustainable future for the islands.

As well as providing choice, it would mean that islanders could enjoy the benefits of the latest renewable technology, ‘continuing to push innovation forward in the energy sector in Guernsey’.

n Since starting up eight years ago, the company has installed more than one megawatt of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in the Bailiwick, as well as 500 kWh of battery storage.

It has worked with Environment & Infrastructure over the last two years and contributed to the development of the Guernsey Energy Policy, which the States approved last year and which includes a set of key milestones as part of the journey towards decarbonisation.
