The Blue Diamond Forge Garden was created by the Blue Diamond Group – which was founded in Guernsey – and also picked up a silver award.

Blue Diamond Group managing director Alan Roper was delighted with the award, especially since this was the team’s first time at Chelsea.

‘RHS Chelsea has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talents within the Blue Diamond Group,’ he said.

‘Our garden was originally thought up and designed by employees within the group who then worked closely with and had excellent support from Conquest Creative Spaces, and project consultant Cherry Carmen, to bring the Blue Diamond Forge Garden to life.’

The garden was inspired by the National Trust’s Branscombe Forge in Devon, which dates back to the 15th century, and it features a thatched roof forge and hand-crafted pieces of metalwork created by Branscombe Forge blacksmith Simon Hall.

The garden aimed to demonstrate how metalwork has evolved over time and how blacksmiths today often take inspiration from nature.

Mr Roper said: ‘I am delighted with how the garden looks and have already had many complimentary comments from visitors.

‘Many said they cannot believe the forge was built in only two weeks, its authenticity making it appear to have always been in the grounds of Chelsea.’

A stream, naturalistic trees and flowers with colours associated with a working forge are also showcased within the garden.

The Blue Diamond Forge Garden will be rebuilt after the show at Bridgemere Show Gardens in Nantwich, Cheshire, where it will take its place alongside other RHS award-winning gardens.

n The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021 is on until Sunday.
