4C Labs first cannabis firm licensed to grow and also prescribe
4C LABS has become the first company in the UK and Channel Islands to obtain both a medical cannabis cultivation licence and a specialist clinic licence that will allow doctors to prescribe medical cannabis online.
The Canadian-headquartered group, which has a base in St Peter’s, last month secured the only licence so far in Guernsey to cultivate medical cannabis. It is set to build a 40,000sq ft facility in the island.
Now it has successfully registered with England’s Care Quality Commission, which enables the group to establish 4C Labs Health Clinics, specialist clinics that enable patients to book an online consultation with doctors.
Patients will also be able to access referrals to physiotherapists, counsellors and psychologists, dieticians and other health care professionals.
Locally the clinics will serve a growing market in the island for medicinal cannabis. The company hopes they will be up and running by July.
‘We are extremely excited to have successfully registered our virtual clinic – this is a major step forward for patients who are eligible for medical cannabis, as well as those who are looking for an integrated approach to treatment that considers all aspects of wellbeing,’ said Greg Dobbin, CEO of 4C Labs.
‘We have worked extremely hard to build and integrate an IT platform into our business that ensures we meet the health needs of our patients. We are developing a leading digital platform with automated scheduling, one click records retrieval and digital prescriptions, to streamline the process.
‘We have simplified the pathway to dramatically reduce the time between consultation and prescription delivery.’
4C Labs Health Clinics will operate under a separate governance to 4C Labs.
