Tina Pipet, Peter Harwood, Marlene Place, and Jack Honeybill (L-R) have all been recognised in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours list.

Former chief minister, Advocate Peter Harwood is awarded the OBE for his services to the island.

He said he was very humbled that people had taken the time and effort to put his name forward.

'I'm very conscious that in all my roles I've been supported by such able, willing and talented people,' he said.

An MBE is bestowed on Jack Honeybill for his services to the community in Guernsey.

His CV includes 20 years as chairman of The Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising body, organising the Town Carnival and summer music concerts at Candie Gardens.

'I couldn't have achieved anything I did over the years without the teams of people who helped me and they deserve a pat on the back,' he said.

Islanders recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list:

  • Peter Harwood: OBE for services to the island

  • Jack Honeybill: MBE for services to the community

  • Marlene Place: BEM for services to veterans

  • Tina Pipet: MVO in recognition of service at Government House

Chairman of the Royal British Legion Guernsey Welfare Team, Marlene Place, is awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to military veterans in Guernsey.

She said she was proud and honoured to get the award which had come as a real surprise. She hoped it would help to raise awareness of the support that her team could provide for ex-service men and women in Guernsey.

Tina Pipet, who was PA to four Lt-Governors from September 2006 to her retirement in April, is made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order - a personal gift of Her Majesty that recognises her service at Government House.

'It's unbelievably special,' she said.

During her employment, Mrs Pipet had been involved in The Queen's Honours process.

'I gave so many people surprises over the years, it seems strange to be receiving the good news instead of giving it.'

The Lt-Governor Lt-General Richard Cripwell said he was delighted that three outstanding islanders had been recognised with State awards in this particularly significant year and that Mrs Pipet had received a personal award from the Sovereign.
