Organising committee president Ron Le Cras said it was the support from the public which had enabled the event to grow year-on-year.

‘Thousands of people have attended since 2018 and we try and give it a new angle every year,’ he said.

‘This is the biggest vintage agricultural show in the Channel Islands and a unique event for Guernsey.’

The vintage carousel, which dates from the 1920s and has an organ in the middle, is 40ft in diameter and features 36 horses and two chariots.

Rides will be available to people aged five and over, and there will also be a smaller version for pre-schoolers.

The event will feature two traction engines and a Foden steam lorry. A static steam engine will be used to drive the barley threshing machine for the working display.

This year’s show was held back a week to avoid a clash with the Rocquaine Regatta, as happened last year, and new traffic arrangements will be in place to give easier access to the showground.

Other attractions include a large display of military vehicles, tractors and farm equipment, vintage games, Punch and Judy, and a model steam railway on which people can ride.

The Guernsey Rabbit & Cavy Club will be holding a show at the site.

There will be refreshments, including a beer tent, where there will be live music on Saturday night.

The first show was at Haye du Puits, Castel, but since then it has been held at Route des Paysans, St Peter’s, Perry’s Guide P21 E3.

  • The show is open from 10am to 11pm on Saturday and from 10am to 6.30pm on Sunday.
