‘No risk of disruption’ to Guernsey bus users
THERE is ‘no risk of disruption’ to Guernsey bus users, the parent company of local operator CT Plus has said – despite having to close some of its operations in the UK.
The HCT group made the comments after two of its subsidiaries – CT Plus Yorkshire and Powell’s Bus – ceased services, due to the financial impact of the pandemic, a surge in fuel prices and the cost-of-living crisis. In a statement announcing the latter company’s closure, HCT Group chief executive Lynn McClelland said: ‘Everyone at Powell’s – and across the wider HCT Group – has worked tirelessly to put the operations in Yorkshire on a sustainable footing, but there is nothing further to be done.’
Bristol Community Transport, also operated by HCT, has said it will stop running all of its community-based operations.
Commenting on whether CT Plus’s services in Guernsey, or Liberty Bus services in Jersey, could be more seriously affected by the problems, a spokesman for the company said: ‘We’d like to reassure passengers of the bus services in Jersey and Guernsey that there are no risks of disruption as a result of changes to our operations on the mainland. We’ve been updating the respective island governments about the situation.'
