DPA vice president resigns
DEVELOPMENT & Planning Authority vice president Andy Taylor has resigned on the morning of the Leale's yard open planning meeting.
The first-term deputy was due to be sitting in this morning's meeting at Beau Sejour, which will decide whether to approve the Co-op's proposal for more than 300 homes on the Bridge site.
He issued a statement this morning.
'It is with great disappointment that I announce my resignation from the Development & Planning Authority, of which I have been vice president since being elected as a deputy in 2020,' he said.
'Today the authority will be considering the outline planning application for Leale’s Yard at an Open Planning Meeting. Whilst supportive of the principle of regeneration of the Bridge area my concerns surrounding this particular application have increased significantly in recent weeks, ultimately leading to this decision.'
He said his concerns related to conflict of interest and 'an apparent disregard' for the Blue Book Rules of Procedure.
He added that there had also been meetings taking place without the knowledge of all authority members, where no minutes were shared.
He said he would be likely to expand on his reasoning in an upcoming States meeting.
