When the vehicle was first reported Guernsey Police said on social media that the owner had ‘no concerns’.
Until yesterday the van was still on the beach and was beginning to sink into the sand.
‘On Saturday officers made contact with the owner of a van which is still stuck on Baie Du Picquerel [sic], and were told arrangements were being made for it to be removed,’ Guernsey Police said.
The vehicle was removed yesterday afternoon.
Guernsey Police thanked BDM Services Ltd for their assistance in towing the vehicle and said the company agreed to help with no extra cost to the taxpayer.
Members of the public had raised concerns about the vehicle polluting the beach.
Director of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation, Tobin Cook, confirmed he was aware of the situation.
‘The Office of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation is liaising with other States of Guernsey service areas regarding the removal of the vehicle and will be looking at other action regarding potential environmental pollution.’
Police enquiries into the abandoned vehicle are ongoing.
