Representatives from all States schools will be attending the meeting of school management committee members at 7pm at Beau Sejour.

Some of those invited had asked for the meeting to be postponed so they could hear P&R present its tax review proposals in the centre’s theatre at the same time.

ESC president Andrea Dudley-Owen said the school committees meeting had been in the calendar for a long time and was important.

‘We will be updating school committee members on our work to update the Education Law, which is one of our priority work-streams that is very relevant to their work.

‘The date is a time-sensitive update based on information we will be releasing the following day – we therefore could not move from this date. It is unfortunate that it clashes with a further public meeting held by Policy & Resources on its tax proposals.

‘If any school committee member wishes to attend the tax public meeting instead, of course we understand. I am also assured the public meeting on tax will be live-streamed, with the footage published in full afterwards for anyone unable to view live.’

Deputy Dudley-Owen is seconding an amendment to the tax review ensuring parliamentary control over any future GST rate changes.
