She recently completed a sea-themed mural covering Richmond Kiosk which now displays multicoloured dancing jellyfish on a blue backdrop.

The project took three days of painting alongside her mother.

Miss Matthews, professionally know as Tiffany Anna, is now hoping to scale up her decorations.

‘Nothing is set in concrete yet but I’ve been chatting to Creasey’s about decorating the big boards on the scaffolding at their renovation with a group of about three or four artists,’ she said.

‘I’d probably go for something sea-related as it is on the front, so maybe something like a kraken or an octopus.’

The retail project will connect the old HSBC bank premises at 13, High Street, to Creasey’s department store at 15-19, High Street, equipped with modern facilities including escalators, a lift and level flooring to ensure accessibility.

Main contractor Rihoy and Son has been on site since Monday 3 July but has only just started work on erecting scaffolding around the seafront due to the Island Games.

It will completely envelop the old HSBC bank site, the Quayside facade, and part of the roof of 15-21, High Street.

‘The post-Covid era has reaffirmed the importance of the High Street as a community hub, a place to shop, eat and drink, and bring people together,’ said Creasey’s director Jonathan Creasey.

‘It will be a long and complex job, but we will continue to trade as normally as possible throughout.’

It is expected to take three years before all areas are complete.

Work started on the fifth floor, which is staff-only, and the fourth floor, location for the coffee shop.
