Guernsey Met Office issued six tide warnings yesterday, for every high tide between last night and Monday morning.

Tide warnings are the second level of a four-tier warning system.

It is expected there will be waves breaking over sea walls on the west coast.

Last night’s 9.4m tide coincided with winds up to force seven coming in from the south-west.

There were also warnings for this morning and tonight’s 9.8m tide at just after 5pm.

There are also warnings for tomorrow’s 9.8m tides at 6.30am and 7.50pm, as well as Monday’s 9.8m tide just after 7am.

Force six winds are expected over the weekend.

Tide warnings generally occur five to 10 times per year.

Condor had been warning earlier in the week that its schedule was likely to be disrupted this weekend, with travellers encouraged to travel on Thursday.

Yesterday’s Liberation sailings to the UK were cancelled, along with today’s St Malo services on Voyager.

Liberation’s sailings today and tomorrow to the UK have both been cancelled and passengers were transferred onto today and Monday’s Clipper services.

Monday’s Liberation service is under review.

There are also new Voyager and Liberation services running on Tuesday, to help travellers get to their destinations.

The Commodore Goodwill freight boat is still due to run today, but its schedule has been brought forward to an earlier time this evening.

The Condor Islander – Condor’s newest boat – has been taken out of service until next Thursday, while a thruster problem is dealt with.

It left Guernsey at 11am on Thursday and was still heading to Liverpool yesterday afternoon.
