The tractors set off from the Folk and Costume Museum at Saumarez Park at about 10.30am yesterday after having been on display in the courtyard so tractor enthusiasts, young and old, could have a closer look at them.
‘I really like the Massey Ferguson tractors,’ said Matthew Mauger, 8.
‘I like them because they are red and I like their wheels.’
Three-year-old Harrison Rowe and his family also went to the courtyard to see the machines.
‘I like the red one,’ he said.
‘He’s tractor-mad and has been since he first saw one when he was 18 months old,’ said his mother, Lauren.
‘We plan our year by tractor runs.’
Faye Le Prevost and her two children, Lyla, 2, and Finley, 3, also enjoyed their morning.
‘It’s nice to come and do something different,’ she said.
‘They [the children] love it. Pretending they are driving them is what they like doing.’
Club secretary Graham Dorey said that the club organises multiple road runs a year, as well as attending the West Show, North Show and Vintage Agricultural Show.
‘This one is a charity run in aid of Les Bourgs Hospice.’
‘We have raised money for them before and the people taking part have donated and we are accepting donations from visitors.’
