Dates for 'Hermfest' have been announced, but few other details are available. Organisers said yesterday that they did not want to say any more at this stage.

The three-day festival should take place on 12, 13 and 14 July, with a selection of bands and musicians taking to the stage in the courtyard at the Mermaid Tavern, which will be the base for HermFest.

Organisers Mark Guillou and Event Hire Guernsey’s Shaun Broughton have teamed up with Herm Island for the festival.

The new festival is running in the place of SarkFest, which was cancelled earlier in the year due to damage caused to its usual site from Storm Ciaran in November last year.

The event usually attracts 1,500 people when held in the bigger island of Sark.

In July last year 10,278 journeys were made between Guernsey and Herm – 1,500 more than between Guernsey and Sark in the same period.

Information about tickets, boats, accommodation and the line-up will be announced in the coming weeks on the HermFest Facebook page.
