The site at Les Ozouets is destined to become a new post-16 campus and Education, Sport & Culture confirmed Rok was chosen after a competitive tender process.

Rok is already on the site, carrying out the demolition of the old buildings.

Les Ozouets campus has been looking for a new contractor since RG Falla was removed from it by the States in December 2022. The company went bust four months later.

ESC said that Rok has been awarded preferred bidder status and it will now enter a pre-construction services agreement with the company to get the preparatory works under way and to head up the next phase of the project which will look for subcontractors.

Nick Hynes, director of education and senior responsible officer for the Transforming Education Programme, said ESC was confident that Rok would continue to work efficiently and professionally on the site, as it had during the demolition.

‘At group level, Rok is a Jersey-based company and was appointed following a competitive tender process that local bidders were encouraged to enter,’ he said.

Rok had put in the most financially and operationally competitive offer. He assured islanders that Rok has a Guernsey-registered entity.

‘A large amount of the works will be undertaken by the local supply chain through sub-contracts and will therefore benefit local trades,’ said Mr Hynes.

He looked forward to construction starting early next year. Phase one will include the main Guernsey Institute building, the construction and engineering building and the foundations of the new Sixth Form Centre.

The new campus is expected to open in 2027.

  • Rok Group was founded in Jersey in 2007 and has grown to become one of the island’s leading construction companies. Among projects it has been involved in, it was the principal contractor in the construction of Les Quennevais and Mont a L’Abbe Schools.
