Former Ladies’ College student hopes to reunite class of 1975
HALF a century after leaving Ladies’ College, a former student is hoping to gather classmates from the school’s alumnae of 1975 together for a reunion later this year.

Lynne Edwards, nee Murray, is one of a group of school friends who are looking to arrange a weekend of celebration and commemoration for the group in September, 50 years after they finished their A-Levels together.
‘We agreed that it’s really something to celebrate,’ she said.
Mrs Edwards now lives in France, but visits Guernsey once or twice a year with her twin sister Beth to see their mother.
They also take time to catch up with friends still living locally who they reman in touch with, and it was during one of these catch-ups last year that the idea for a reunion came about.
‘We decided last year but didn’t do anything about it, this year we just thought it was about time, so we set up a WhatsApp chat and the idea started flying,’ Mrs Edwards said.
‘I said I would get hold of the Press as I thought it would be great as a storyline, and it might be a way to reach out to some people who we have lost contact with.’
She estimated there had been about 30 students in her year, and hoped the majority of them would be able to attend.
‘Some people have sadly died, but it would be lovely if we could get at least 25 to come.
‘We had a reunion back in 2006 so we have quite a few email addresses and contacts, but there are people we’ve lost contact with, so this might be a nice way to help us get in touch with a few girls that would love to be there that may otherwise not know about it.’
As for what was planned for September’s gathering, Mrs Edwards said she had begun searching for a suitable dinner venue for the former classmates, while she had also contacted Ladies’ College itself to arrange a visit to the school the day before the dinner, on Friday 12 September.
‘If I were a student now, I would be interested in seeing and talking to girls who were at the school 50 years ago.’
